WordPress vs. TypePad… The Final Answer

So today I had a few more chats with TypePad support.  They are really good at getting back to you.

The support rep confirmed that I would not be able to do all of the sharing options that I want without putting in hooks and jumping through a bunch of other hoops.  In WordPress, I just go click the button, and poof all of my sharing options are set.

The support rep did offer to let me upgrade to the next subscription level for the same price as the Pro Version, but I would have lost that savings in my own time spent, actually getting the blog to do what I want.

I could have installed the doodads to get syntax highlighter up and running in typepad, but wordpress already supports this out of the box.

So, I decided to stick with wordpress.

The end result is that I got a nice deal with wordpress for $99 plus I paid an extra $75 or so for a 100% customizable theme.  In the end I had exported all my data from typepad, imported it into wordpress, formatted everything in the wordpress theme, and hooked up all of my sharing options in under four hours.

Yay WordPress…

    • Go to Dashboard > Sharing, then select the publisize options that you want. I currently have Facebook, twitter, MSN, and LinkedIn setup. Then I have also enabled Press this, Tiwtter, FB, LinkedIn, Google+, Email and Print for each blog post. Then click save changes. Hope this is what you are asking.
